Cymbidium – New Orchid Additions
My mom bought this lovely Cymbidium sinense during our visit to Cloud’s Orchids; but it wasn’t doing very well in her fish tank back in January. Yeah, her fish all died, and she converted the big fish tank to orchid growing area, hoping it would retain moisture and heat well. However, it didn’t turn out as expected. I guess she still got a lot to learn. So long story short, I took the cymbidium sinense home this Feburary, cleaned up the rotten roots, restrict on the watering, and took good care of it. After four month, it finally came back with new growth.
Before: a lot of younger leaves were drying out and falling
After: it finally came back with some new shoots
Last month, I added three more Cymbidium into our collection:
Cymbidium ensifolium – Yu Huan Fei （建兰 – 玉环飞）
Cymbidium ensifolium – Tian Xiang （建兰 – 天香）
Cymbidium goeringii – Chun Hui （春兰 – 春晖）
They are recovering as well, but it looks promising. I hope I can get them to bloom one day.

how are you Asian Cymbidiums doing?
I see that you collect orchids and has started growing Asian Cymbidiums. Asian cymbidiums are difficult especially Cymbidium goeringii (Spring orchid). I posted a lot of information on the SOOS facebook page.
