Rethink New Year Resolution in Mini Habits

Two weeks into 2018, I’ve finished a few books already. The quiet reading time during commute to work was very helpful, and I really enjoyed it. One of the books I read was Mini Habits: Smaller Habits, Bigger Results. It detailed what is the strategy to develop the habit, and why it would work using various studies of human brain. It explained why the traditional motivation strategy would not work, as most of people give up their New Year resolution 2 weeks into the new year. It was interesting, and fun read; I suddenly felt there might be hope for my guitar, my Japanese, my drawing skills, my writing skills, the list goes on…

So, shall I rethink my 2018 plan in terms of mini habits?

  • Lots of reading -> Read at least 1% of one book on my kindle everyday
  • More blogging -> Write 100 words twice a week
  • Healthier diet -> Vegetarian diet one day a week
  • Exercise -> 15 seconds of plank everyday
  • Artistic skills development -> Draw 5 minutes everyday
  • Let me start with these mini habits first!
