2017 Finished Handmade – Waxed Canvas 3-way Handbag

I’ve finally finished this waxed canvas handbag after who-knows how long. I am just glad that I finished it, although screw up a little bit by ironing the waxed canvas.

This is the pattern from Chinese magazine. I love how versatile it is.

And these are the pictures during my project process, it was a LONG process. I am grateful my sewing machine made it through that thick fabric as well.

The handbag minus the lining: I screwed up the coloring due to ironing. NEVER iron waxed canvas the normal way!

Close up of the handle, I knitted and hand sewn the piece using linen yarn (original pattern uses same leather piece as the side of the bag), because I had trouble punch through all five layers of fabric with cotton strap.

The reason I love this handbag was because the 3-way of usage, but unfortunately, I don’t think I will use it as backpack, because there was no zipper to close the bag. The other thing I am planning to do is maybe sew some decorative crystals at front to cover up the ironing mess.

  • I just finished a bag too! It’s the ultimate travel bag from ByAnnie.com. She has a craftsy class for this bag. I followed the class to make it. It’s so much fun!
